Step back in time - to comfort & style.
Vintage train carriage accommodation in Devon for those who would just like to step back from the world for a little while.
The Bluebell is completely self contained, you will not be in close contact with others during your stay, and it will be deep cleaned between occupancies.
Social distancing is to be observed at all times, and face masks must be worn in any public areas on site - such as at the takeaway cafe. On site purchases to be made using cards/phones - cash not accepted.
Modern rail evokes anything but the spirit of long gone steam train days - style, romance, and adventure, yet you can still experience all of that here at Hole Station.
It's a place that time forgot, a small station on a dreamy country line long closed yet still here, kept company by the Bluebell railway carriage, nestled in deep Devon countryside.
The Bluebell spent the days of her youth traversing the fjords of Norway but is now at rest, in a verdant setting of wildflower meadows, thriving natural woodlands, and abundant wildlife.
Resplendent in art deco style, the Bluebell cossets you in comfort, and soothes you with peace, quiet and tranquillity . When you reserve the Bluebell it's an exclusive booking, it's all yours.
Take a look through the photo gallery below.
The Bluebell hosts up to four people in self catering accommodation with two bedrooms, each with it's own ensuite, a sitting room, kitchen diner and private platform area overlooking a wildflower meadow across to the woods.
Wifi is available throughout and there also a pc with Netflix included.
When you book, whether one or four people, the entire carriage is for the use of your party only - there is no shared occupancy.
The Bluebell and Hole Station are situated midway between the Tors of Dartmoor and the beaches of North Devon and Cornwall so you can have a splash in the morning, partake of a cream tea for lunch, be atop a Dartmoor Tor in the afternoon, then return for an evening sipping the beverage of your choice on your private platform - gazing across the meadow to the woods. Ain't life just great.
Hole Station itself is completely secluded in 50 acres of meadow and woodland, accessed by a 1/2 mile private lane, in the quietest part of Devon. There are some lovely country pubs nearby - our local is a 20 minute walk through beautiful countryside and has a great reputation for food. If cooking isn't top of your list of activities to do whilst on holiday there is a small takeaway cafe on site which offers set you up for the day breakfasts July to mid September, and where home made ready meals are also available.
You are very welcome to take a stroll through the woods (in which there is a small campsite for discerning campers), it's beautiful at any time of year and home to a plethora of flora and fauna. Our horses and goats are very friendly and like to say hello, whilst the free range chickens provide plenty of entertainment too.
Hole Station is 18+ adult only, so you are never going to be disturbed by 'enthusiastic' children. Dogs are not allowed due to the chickens and other animals at Hole Station.
The minimum stay in the Bluebell is 4 nights
